Come Undone: In literature and art, strong independent women often give away their power for the love of a man. It is as if their emotions have weakened their self-assurance and rendered them worthless. We have become so accustomed to reports of female brutality that it takes the death of Fawziyah Javed and Sarah Everard to make us question how empowered women truly are. Pre-Raphaelite art expressed admiration for the uncomplicated realism of nature; my series aims to represent the inner-strength gained by women as a result of mistreatment, allowing an audience to connect with their integrity. Feeling trapped and socially isolated during the Covid pandemic, my only source of refuge was my ability to go for walks in the parks that surround Windsor. The nature is diverse and I experienced many emotional connections with it. As with all creative mediums, poetry expresses a poignant sense of longing and this was the primary influence of my work. Through the study of poetry and how artists have influenced one and other; I realised that Sufism and its philosophical practises believe that everything is created from nothing. Neverything is visual poetry and an exploration of inner peace, healing and love through a co-existence with nature. I believe that love can heal the frustrations of humankind because it is at the core of all things living. Therefore, the concept of my series was to seek out and loose myself in nothing in order to discover the purest form of love. Reflection isn’t ever just one moment in time, it is a forever changing constant. Capturing the light at different stages of the day reflects how we connect with nature at different moments in time. Telos is an Ancient Greek term for fulfilment, an end or purpose. The Teleological argument was established by Aristotle. It concludes that humans were created to serve a purpose and to justify our existence within society through the process of four causes — material, efficient, formal and the final goal. Our telos biologically is to reproduce and survive. However, it could be said that as a result of the destruction of the planet our telos has shifted to resolving what we have destroyed. With industrialisation we have made leaps in our ability to sustain a nation that was once solely reliant on agriculture to that of manufacturing. As a civilisation we are leaving our mark on the planet; and with ever increasing concern over the cause and effect of global warming will our legacy be that of improvement or devastation? This series started by visiting pioneering regions of British industry; focusing primarily on the structures, landscapes and the reason behind their construction. Depicting not only the structure but it’s connection with the land and paired with 360° panoramic composites made from 70 individual photographs. From the perspective of those who seek to preserve our future eudaimonia, Telos explores humankind’s need to modernise the industrial landscape. 'Bridgwater'
